2019 Spring Release Order Form

Good News Everyone! The 2016 Quintessence Cabernet Sauvignon is finally ready for release!

This is undoubtedly the biggest, most structured wine I have produced yet for this label. It has taken longer than usual for this wine to come around, but I feel it's finally there! But before I go into the details, there are a few items I want to share with you.

I am hosting my first winemaker dinner ever for Maloney Wine this month! While I've hosted more of these dinners than I can count for other wineries, this is the first time I'm doing it for my own label, which is very exciting for me. The dinner is at Seeds in La Conner, WA  on Thursday, May 30 at 6 pm and as of this mailing there are still seats available. We will be pouring the 2012 Elephant Mountain, 2013 Scooteney Flats, 2014 Dionysus and 2015 Phinny Hill with four different courses. This will be the last time I am sharing the 2012 Elephant Mountain, as there are only 3 cases left in the warehouse, which I'm saving for something special.

Speaking of older vintages, I still have a very limited amount of 2013 Scooteney Flats available, although I suspect I will be cutting that one off shortly as well. There is still 2014 Dionysus and 2015 Phinny Hill available, and the Dionysus is showing beautifully right now. If you wish to order any of these wines there is a space on the order form.

There have been some changes to our licensing and shipping to other states. Unfortunately I can no longer ship to New Jersey, New Hampshire or Illinois. If you live in one of those states and really want to order some wine please send me a note and I will see if we can find a work around by shipping to a neighboring state or possibly even working with a retailer close to you. The good news is that I have added Kentucky, Vermont and Pennsylvania to the states where I am permitted to ship.

Now for the business at hand, the 2016 Quintessence Cabernet Sauvignon. This is the second time I have made a wine from the Red Mountain appellation for this project and I was very excited to work with Dick Shaw (the owner of the vineyard) and Marshall Edwards (vineyard manager extraordinaire) on this wine. 2016 was a warm but wonderful and even growing season and produced some very big, tannic Cabs. I really wanted to show how big and generous this site can be, so I pushed things a little more than usual when crafting this wine. The result is a Cabernet Sauvignon that is both powerful and elegant, with loads of ripe fruit and savory herb on the nose, and an incredibly long, smooth finish. I think this wine needs at least 5 years to truly open up, and probably has 20+ years of life ahead of it.

To order this wine as well as any previous vintages (except the 2012) please use this order form. It can also be found here on the website.  I would like to have all the orders collected and ready to ship by the second week in June, but of course I will take orders whenever you can get them back. As usual there is no charge for orders of 6 bottles or more, and if you live in Washington State and are willing to meet me I will deliver your wine at no additional charge, regardless of the order size.

To everyone who has supported me and this project through all the years please know that I am eternally grateful to you. I love doing this project and sharing it with anyone and everyone who will try it, and I hope that love comes through when you taste the wine. I am able to continue doing what I love because of your support.

With sincere gratitude,
Joshua Maloney
